“X” was here: A proclamation of existence to the world at large. From hand prints on cave walls to messages scrawled on an overpass, the need to announce ourselves, to stand out, compels us to mark the world, simply to prove that we were.
Iconic architecture becomes the collective cry of the population who surrounds it, the proof of life for a culture.
